He was proud to serve his community. When he moved to New Jersey from Frankford in 1989 Bill became a member of the Maple Shade Fire Department and remained an active, hardworking volunteer. Of course, his real career was in tax preparation and accounting. In later years he prepared taxes for Jackson Hewitt and most recently for Liberty Tax, where he personally completed more than 200 returns this year.
A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan—even though some family members rooted for the Cowboys—Bill loved John Wayne movies and owned every one. Family and friends knew him as someone widely loved for his strong-willed ways. He was the oldest of 10 children.
The handsome Kensington boy was set up on a blind date with a pretty Frankford girl. The two would find love at the bowling alley and share a 51-year marriage blessed by 4 children, Christopher (Amanda), Peter (Kelly), Kaylyn (Michael) Marcavage and Lisa (Ian Clair) Rangnow and eight grandchildren, Erich, Katrina, Trinity, Olivia, Sophia, Madison, Lila and Collin. He is survived by siblings Ronald, Charles, Jane, Warren, Denise, Wendy, Michael, and Amy. He is preceded in death by his brother Robert.
Family will celebrate 73 great years privately. Services under the direction of Mark Tilghman Funeral Home, Maple Shade.
