William Edward Moore III, 81, of Edgewater Park, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, surrounded by a lifetime of memories and love.
Born in Deland, Florida, Bill made Edgewater Park his home for more than six decades—a place where he built a life rooted in family, the outdoors, and community.
He was the beloved son of the late William E. and Florence H. Moore and a proud graduate of Florence High School, Class of 1962. He later attended Glassboro State College, earning his BS in Biology in 1972.
After a rewarding 27-year career as an educator with the Willingboro Public School District, Bill embraced retirement with curiosity and enthusiasm, traveling widely across the United States and abroad. He was actively involved in many civic and social organizations, reflecting his lifelong commitment to history, community, and fellowship.
Bill had a deep appreciation for the natural world. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found his greatest joy on the water—whether boating along the Delaware River, exploring Barnegat Bay, or venturing into the Atlantic Ocean. Those days outdoors were among his happiest and most cherished.
Bill was proud to be a member of Coopertown Meeting House Cemetery, the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the NJ Tall Ship A.J. Meerwald, the Delran Junior Marksman Club, the Junior Order of American Mechanics, and the Oneida Boat Club. He valued tradition, history, and fellowship, and he formed many lasting friendships through these groups.
Above all, Bill was devoted to his family. He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Carole Lokan, celebrating that milestone just last year. He was a proud and loving father to Carrie and her husband, Scott, and to Elizabeth, and a proud and loving grandfather to Michaela, Kyle, Colin, and Morgan. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Kauffman, and her husband, Lanse; his nephew, Joseph, and his wife, Shannon; and his great-nephews, Abraham and Liam.
Bill lived a full and meaningful life—one marked by adventure, learning, and deep connections. He will be remembered with affection, gratitude, and many fond stories by all who knew him.
