Peter J. Tursi

Peter J. Tursi age 92 of Maple Shade passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia on February 7, 1930, he moved to Maple Shade in 1953. Peter worked as a tailor at Thorngate in Norristown, Pa. and was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-Holy Savior Church in Haddon Twp., N.J. Peter along with his late wife Rita, were very active in the deaf community. He enjoyed all Philadelphia professional sports and among his hobbies were cars and carpentry.

Beloved husband of 67 years to the late Rita who passed away in 2020, loving father of Peter L. Tursi, Anthony J. (Kathryn) Tursi, and Joseph A. Tursi, dear brother of Joseph (the late Jean) Tursi, Kathleen Parisi and Georgiana Parisi, cherished grandfather of Anthony, Jr. (Andrea) Tursi, and Barbara Tursi, adoring great grandfather of Sophia and Aiden, Mr. Tursi is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with his family on Friday, July 29th, 9-11 am at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. Memorial service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peter’s name to St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, C/O Father Hugh, Ministry of the Deaf, 809 Park Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.
