Patrick S McGonigle

A lifelong Shader, Pat was the eleventh of twelve children, a man who grew up in a busy household where the door was never locked and the "McGonigle Show" was always in session. As one of "the little guys", Pat learned early on the importance of patience, loyalty and family pride. Growing up in a bustling household shaped his generous spirit, unwavering loyalty, and deep appreciation for the bonds that held his family together. Those values remained the foundation of his life and were reflected in the love and kindness he shared with everyone he met. Pat was the guy you called at 2:00 AM when the power went out; he’d show up with a generator, get you back in action, and think nothing of it. Even before the phone call, you knew he'd be on his way.

A 2006 graduate of Maple Shade High School, Pat was a popular and dedicated student-athlete. He played football and wrestled; two sports that helped to define the toughness that he lived his life by. After high school, Pat attended Williamson Trade School. It was there that he developed his love for carpentry, a skill that would shape the rest of his life. After graduating from Williamson, he joined the navy. Pat enlisted as a member of the Construction Batallion, where he lived the motto, "We Build, We Fight". As a SeaBee, Pat saw the world—Diego Garcia, Japan, Afghanistan, Bahrain, and Iraq—serving five years with a quiet pride. After his service, he was hired by ARCO Construction, where he spent the last decade as a site manager. Pat famously grew a beard to command respect from crews twice his age, although his competence usually did the talking long before his appearance did.

Patrick was a man of simple pleasures. He loved a good chicken parm, the "Deadliest Catch" on TV, and the rugged utility of a truck. Whether he was popping off a few rounds at the Winslow Gun Club to unwind before work or taking the quad out on his property with his kids, he was most at ease outdoors. He was a Raiders fan, trading the disappointment of the Eagles for Oakland, a burden he shared with his brother.

Pat married his school sweetheart, Andrea, and was blessed with two children, Logan and Tessa. You could usually find him swimming with the kids or heading off to the park, always ensuring they had the best of his time and his heart.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Logan and Tessa; his mother, Barbara; and his 11 siblings: Matthew (Diane), Michael (Lisa), Amy Smalley (Scott), Tim (Tina), Kate Ormsby (Steve), Molly Anderson (Rob), Daniel, Siobhan Oshinsky (Tom), Ryan (Jen), Christian (Erika), and Connor (Nick). He was predeceased by his father, Paul. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and two grandnieces.

The family will celebrate 39 great years at a private service. Arrangements under the direction of Mark Tilghman Funeral Home, Maple Shade.
