John H. Obert

John H. Obert, of Maple Shade, formerly of Deptford for 60 years passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on April 19,1935, in Philadelphia, John's life was marked by dedication, warmth, and a quiet strength that endeared him to all who knew him. John proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy. After his military service, he returned to his hometown of Philadelphia, where he built a career as a draftsman at Frankford Arsenal. His meticulous nature and eye for detail made him a valued employee until his retirement. Not one to remain idle, John continued to work alongside his brother at George Obert Auto Body, where his hands-on skills and friendly demeanor were a perfect fit.

Family was the cornerstone of John's life. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Agnes M. Obert (nee Ashbridge), and a loving father to his children, Deborah Hendrixson, John Obert Jr. and his wife Cathy, Karen Hoch and her husband Jeff, and Karl Obert. John took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Katy, Cristi, Steven, Christy, Cody, and Ashley, and as a great-grandfather to Daniel, Skylar, Nick, Lucas, Logan, Juliana, Ayden, Ryder, and Cayden. His brother, George M. Obert, cousin Elizabeth Obert, and many nieces and nephews also held a special place in his heart. John's home was his sanctuary, a place where he was always content. His hobbies included collecting model trains and coins, which he pursued with the same passion and precision as his professional work. An avid reader, he could often be found immersed in a book, always eager to learn and explore new worlds through the written word.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Monday, February 26th from 10 am to 11 am at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 North Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
