John J. Hopkins, Jr.

John J. Hopkins, Jr. of Maple Shade passed away on Tuesday February 6, 2024. He was 85 years old. John was born on April 3, 1938 to the late John, Sr. and Alice Hopkins (nee Emory). He retired from Kurtz-Hastings in Philadelphia, an industrial manufacturer. John proudly served his country in th US Navy Reserves for eight years. He was an avid bowler, and oversaw various bowling leagues at Laurel Lanes. John was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #5714. He was a dedicated and passionate Boy Scout leader for many years. Among his other hobbies he enjoyed playing cards.
 
Beloved husband of 64 years to Leah Hopkins (nee Hayes), loving and devoted father of John J. III (Lisa) Hopkins, Alice Hopkins, Donna A. (Michael) Clear and Christopher D. Hopkins, dear brother of Robert (Janet) Hopkins, and the late Ronald Hopkins, Nancy Ostapchuk and Fred Hopkins, cherished grandfather of Ryan, James, Leah and Emily, John will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Monday February 12th, 10-11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
