Jimmy was a man whose heart was as big as the ocean he loved to fish. He was known best for his generosity, selflessness, and ability to make anyone laugh. Fishing was Jimmy’s happy place. Summer mornings were often spent with his best friend, Mike, out on the boat, fishing from sunrise until the sun went down. His favorite spots were Long Beach Island and Barnegat Light. He often said, “I don’t fish to escape life — fishing is my life,” and anyone who knew him knew just how true that was. Though he owned several fishing poles, he had a favorite that was always within reach. At home, Jimmy fancied himself a cook, though his culinary fame came from being the “Sandwich King”. Above all, Jimmy was a devoted family man. Jimmy met the love of his life, Pattie, through friends, and together they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. Their secret to a happy life together was simple: always have fun with each other. He was the best dad, always present, always patient. Whether coaching his kids’ sports teams, including T-ball, where he cheerfully guided little ones running the wrong way, or cheering them on from the sidelines, his heart was fully in it. Later in life, he embraced the role of “Poppop,” spending as much time as he could with his grandson, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Pattie, their children Justine, Jesse, and Jacob, and his grandson John Francis, and soon to join the family another grandson James Michael, along with many siblings, in-laws, friends, and extended family.
Come celebrate 65 great years on Tuesday September 30th from 5-7pm where there will be a 7pm service at Mark C. Tilghman Funeral Home, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade.
