Irene Anderson

Listen to Obituary

Irene knew what was important: being healthy and well and surrounded by those she loved. She was defined by her sense of humor (a feisty fireball but always good natured) and was never into material possessions. A master of all dishes Italian and Polish, she was always in the kitchen, prepping something for her family. Irene was an artist; she loved to paint. And there was no place she felt more at home than a bustling flea market. She had a green thumb gardening at her home and helping out with the garden at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. If her T.V. was on, she’d be catching up on Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and Price is Right and she loved Elvis, Michael Jackson and especially Tom Jones. New Year's Day found her watching the Mummers; Irene had the uncanny ability to pick the winners. She was raised in Cherry Hill (graduate of Camden Catholic) and lived in Philly for a short time before settling in Maple Shade.

She’d met a handsome boy at a dance; Irene and the late Wallace shared a 42 year marriage blessed by 4 children: Jane (Charles) Anderson Ross; Wallace J. Anderson, Clare Elizabeth Anderson and Leonora (Richard) Scott; grandchildren, Dan Barnabie, Desiree Barnabie, Sarah Yost, and Alliya Love; and 7 great grandchildren. She is survived by her best friend and caretaker, Dawn Bove.

Come celebrate 87 great years Saturday January 10, 9-11 a.m. at Mark Tilghman Funeral Home, 38 North Forklanding Road, Maple Shade where there will be an 11 a.m. service. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
