Jerry was a nice guy with a mischievous streak; a little stubborn (came with the Spence name) but you could usually talk him into just about anything. His earlier years found him working for McAllister Fuels in Pennsauken as a service technician and his later years were spent with Kraft foods as a forklift operator. He loved chess, once hand painting a set for himself and country music especially George Jones. If his T.V was on he’d be catching up on NCIS and CSI, Animal Planet or cheering for the Flyers and the Eagles. He was born in Berks County P.A., settled in Barrington and later moved to Maple Shade.
The friendly service technician would meet a secretary named Kathleen. The two would share a 29-year marriage. He was blessed by 4 children: the late William David Spence, Gaylene (Gary) Spence-Boyle, Joseph Howard (Amy) Spence, and Brian Joseph Miller; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is also survived by his cats, most notably his buddy, Bear.
Family will celebrate 86 great years privately.
