George John Wolfinger, a man whose life was defined by quiet devotion to his family and a legendary sense of fun, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026.
Born in Maple Shade and a 1979 graduate of Burlington County VoTech, George spent his career as a dedicated warehouse professional and forklift driver at Sbars. While he was a hard worker, George’s true life’s work began at home. He spent 40 years building a life with his beloved wife, Helene, and though it took them 20 years to "make it legal," their bond was unbreakable. They were inseparable life partners who did everything together, he was her Bud and she was his babe.
Of course, his real calling was as a father and grandfather. To his daughters, Jennifer and Linda, he didn’t just raise them, he chose them. The patient hand behind every school volcano and solar system project, the calm voice that made hard days easier, and the man who could be counted on to lift a heavy box or a heavy heart without ever being asked. His love showed up in the everyday moments, and that’s where it will be missed most.As "Pop-Pop," George was in his element. Whether he was driving his granddaughter to the barn for horse riding every Tuesday or cheering from the sidelines of a soccer game, he never missed a moment. He could always been found with the grandchildren building legos, making slime, swimming and building sandcastles on the beach. His six grandchildren knew him as the "fun grandparent," a big kid at heart who made the best ribs his grandson had ever tasted.
When he wasn't with his family, George could be found in his "man cave"—his meticulously tidy garage—tinkering with tools, listening to 102.9, or enjoying a Bud Light. A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, he lived and breathed the Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles. On Friday nights, he and Helene could often be found dancing in their living room, listening to music and enjoying a few cocktails.
He is survived by his wife, Helene; his daughters, Jennifer Hallman (Tony) and Linda Dettmann (Travis); his six grandchildren, Julianna Williams, Gabrielle Williams, Ryder Hallman, Daxton Hallman, Caden Dettmann, and Bria Dettmann; his parents, John and Mae Hudson; sister, Robin Delaney; his brother-in-law and best friend, Greg; and nieces and nephews, Sherri, Bobby, Kimberly, Stephanie, Kira and Jackson. He was predeceased by his sister, Debbie Snyder and father, Charles Wolfinger.
Come celebrate 64 great years Saturday June 6, 2026, 8-10 a.m. at Mark Tilghman Funeral Home, 38 N Forklanding Road, Maple Shade, where there will be a 10 a.m. service. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Cinnaminson. Donations in lieu of flowers to American Heart Association (heart.org) will be appreciated.
