Gene Stutler Caven, 79, of Maple Shade, NJ passed away peacefully at Cooper
Hospital in Camden on July 14.
Gene was born on February 4, 1947 in Takoma Park, MD. He graduated from
Pennsville Memorial High School in 1965 and attended the University of Delaware
briefly before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served eight years in Virgina, California,
Hawaii, Midway Island and on the USS Ticonderoga.
After his discharge he graduated from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University)
with a mathematics major. He had a long career in computer programming.
Gene was married for fifty-two years. He is survived by two children, Jennifer and
Patrick, four grandchildren, Bailey, Morgan, Shade and Kimberly and two sisters, Mary
Ann and Susan.
Gene enjoyed running and working on anything mechanical. He loved cars. As a
teenager he built a motorcycle from scratch which he licensed and rode for several
years. He was a deep thinker, an avid reader, a thoughtful speaker, a devoted husband
and a loving father.
Come celebrate his life, Monday August 31 9-11 a.m. at Mark Tilghman Funeral Home, 38 North Forklanding Road, Maple Shade where there will be an 11 a.m. service. Interment Brig. General William C. Doyle Cemetery, Wrightstown. Donations in Gene’s honor may be made to the Mustang Museum of America (mustangmuseumofamerica.com).
