Donna Satkowski

Donna Satkowski was born on December 26, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of the late Edward Satkowski and Helen (Kwiatkowski) Satkowski.

Donna attended Nazareth Academy High School and graduated with B.A. in elementary education from Holy Family College. She did her graduate work at Temple University, where she studied education with an emphasis on the psychology of reading.

Donna dedicated her entire career to serving the Lord by educating within the Catholic Church. She retired from Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 2011, after serving for 5 years as principal. Prior to that, she was principal of St. Martha’s Parish School in Philadelphia for 14 years and also taught at Holy Innocents School for six years.

Donna enjoyed classical music, playing the piano and attending the theatre. She had a beautiful voice and sang with the Robert Ensinger Chorale and the Archdiocesan Cathedral Choir. She loved her cat, Houdini, and watching him play with his favorite toys. Instilled with a love of Philadelphia sports teams from her father, she enjoyed watching and cheering on the Phillies and Eagles. Donna cherished time with family, friends and her Catholic faith community. 

She was the beloved Godmother to Kathleen (Gozdan) Cikowski, Stephen Brittin 3rd, Allison Ewing, and Stevie Chase. Donna is survived by many loving cousins and life long friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with Donna's family on Saturday October 14th 10-11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 East Main Street, Maple Shade. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at the address above, St. Martha Parish School, 11321 Academy Road, Philadelphia, Pa. 19154 or The ASPCA  @aspca.org.
