HITCHCOCK Burton G., age 83, of Maple Shade, NJ, died at Care One Rehabilitation Center, Moorestown, New Jersey on Monday, January 22, 2024. Born April 09, 1940, in Miles City, Montana. He spent his young years in Seattle, Washington area and then Portland, Oregon, then joined the U.S. Army stationed out of Fort Ord, California. He left service and lived in California for a while, thenspent a number of years moving around the lower United States, ending up in New York City, and then in North Philadelphia. He couldn’t find further employment in his early ‘70s,so moved to Cherry Hill, NJ, where he was employed as machinist at Star Sprinkler, and then at Lonergan Valve as a machinist for about 10 years. He left that field due to a hand injury and attended Burlington County College, receiving an Associates of Science in Electronic Technology, and then enjoyed employment with several copier companies until the last company folded. His post-retirement years were spent with the Burlington County Para-Transit bus system, finally leaving that work due to health problems. He and Susan (nee Mackey) of Gloucester, NJ, met and married on March 17, 1979. Burt leaves behind Susan, his loving wife of 44 years, one half-sister Wanda (Linvig/Steve) who remains in Billings, Montana, many special brother and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and dear family members on Sue’s side, as well as many close friends and others. Friends and relatives will be welcomed to attend Burt’s funeral mass of remembrance to be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Church, 1739 Ferry Avenue and Broadway, Camden, NJ 08104. The church reception will begin 10 a.m, followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m. Parking in lot behind church, and within short walking distance across Broadway in a fenced lot. Street parking is also available. Arrangements made by MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade, NJ. No flowers, please.
