Anthony Lamont Allen (affectionately) “Lamont,” born October 22,1953, in Indianapolis, IN, pre-deceased by his parents George and Doretha (Bellazzaire) Allen, one of eight children, died “peacefully in his sleep,” on July 22, 2023.
Lamont is survived by his wife Maria (Hargrave) Allen, of Maple Shade, NJ; his four children Robbie Ann (Angel) Parker, Anthony Lamont Parker, Montrell Landon Parker, Arlen Sterling Parker and their mother, Robbie Ann Parker, of Amherst, MA; his siblings, Ward Allen of Springfield, MA, (sister-in-law Myrtis Walter-Allen of Springfield, MA), George Allen, III of Baltimore, MD, Reginald Allen of Atlanta, GA, Eric Allen of Baltimore, MD, Debra Allen (Erwin) Driskell of Springfield, MA, Portia Allen of Enfield, CT, Joy Allen of Springfield, MA, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
Lamont attended the High School of Commerce in Springfield, MA from 1968 -1970. In 1968 Lamont also became a member of the Springfield Cadets. He participated in the band for the High School of Commerce Choir and many local bands, over the years. In 1971 Lamont enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a grateful nation with an honorable discharge.
Lamont was well known wherever he lived. He was a skilled self-taught bassist and overall musician who played several instruments. He owned his own recording studio and played music with several musical bands making music all over the world. Lamont worked for many different bus companies and recently retired as a long-distance bus driver from MEGA SERVICE PROVIDERS in New Jersey.
Lamont was a consummate gifted musician, musical consultant, a musical engineer, composer, and singer. He loved working with and highly appreciated his many musician friends. He was a fantastic “entertainer,” who was known to be one of the best bassists around. Lamont was most often found doing what he loved best, which was playing his bass, singing and composing music.
Lamont will be greatly missed. Our entire family extends our grateful thanks for the kindness, support, comfort, love and prayers you have given us during our time of sorrow.
Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, August 19th 10 AM at St. Michael’s Cathedral Chapel, 260 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts 01103.
