Maple Shade

Andrea Jackowicz

Listen to Obituary

Andrea was vibrant, and unapologetically herself. To know Andrea was to know a woman who bled Eagles green, a diehard Philadelphia fan who finally got to see the Super Bowl win she’d waited a lifetime for—and she made sure everyone heard about it.

Raised in Bridesburg and a proud graduate of Nazareth Academy, Andrea was a neighborhood fixture long before she moved to Maple Shade. She met her husband, Ray, on a basketball court at the Bridesburg Rec—a meeting so definitive he knew right then he’d marry her. They shared 43 years of marriage, a partnership built on local roots and a shared history that stretched from one end of the neighborhood to the other.

Professionally, Andrea was a veteran of the banking world’s many evolutions. She started at CoreStates and navigated the buyouts through First Union and Wachovia, eventually retiring from Wells Fargo in 2020 after 25 years. But her real "career" began in retirement as a grandmom for the ages. To Slim, Munch, Freddy, and Natalie, she was "Babcia"—the grandmother who never met a rule she wouldn't break for them. Whether it was McDonald’s and ice cream for lunch on half-days or being the sideline fixture at every sports game, Babcia was their ultimate advocate. She was the woman who watched General Hospital from day one, never missed a birthday, and could be found most evenings with a home renovation show on the TV and a barrette holding back her hair.

She was the Polish girl who, despite her heritage, hung her hat on a legendary lasagna. She was the sister who stepped up as a maternal figure early in life, and the aunt who would drive two and a half hours to Maryland just for a long weekend with family.

Andrea is survived by her husband, Ray; her children, Casey (Fred) and Lil Ray (Ashleigh); her grandchildren, Slim, Munch, Freddy, and Natalie; and her sister, Sandra Porter. She was predeceased by her sisters Patty and Susan and her parents, Frank and Gloria Misko.

Services celebrating 71 great years will be held privately under the direction of Mark Tilghman Funeral Home.
