Joseph A. Colavita age 82 of Maple Shade passed away peacefully on Monday August 25, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Maple Shade in 1950. Joe was employed as a Police Officer in Phila., and was the retired owner of the Nomad Motel in Maple Shade. He served in the US Army Combat Infantry during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Pyongyang and fought in the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. Joe enjoyed going to Flea Markets. He was a longtime parishioner of OLPH Church, Maple Shade. Beloved husband of Suzanne (nee Johnson) Colavita, dear brother of twin sisters, Madeline Gavin and Rosalie Colavita and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 28th, 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade. Entombment will be in Camden County Veterans Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Thursday 10-11 am at the Church.
